CONGRATULATIONS, Dr. Andaya!

PSHS-CBZRC congratulates Dr. Jose M. Andaya for his reappointment as its Campus Director. Now on his second term, the community anticipates the continuation of his success story as he leads the campus to more accomplishments. More than mandated, Dr. Andaya is known to be driven toward institutional development and academic excellence with emphasis on molding globally competitive Filipino Science and Technology leaders.


The Director’s List for Third Quarter, AY 2020-2021

Two hundred eighty-two (282) students have made it to the Director’s List during the third quarter. This is equivalent to 45.6% of the student population. A student belongs to the Director’s List if he/she obtained a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 1.50 or better.

Pisay CALABARZONRC bags awards in the LPU Inter-HS Contests

The Philippine Science High School completed a silver and bronze finish at the 2020 Batangas Province Inter-High School Academic, Skills, and Cultural Competitions organized by the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas on March 13, 2021.

Angel Lopez (11-Rigel) and Bea Therese Suguitan (9-Xenon) were awarded 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up in the Declamation and Essay Writing contests, respectively.

Greta Thunberg’s Speech at the U.N. Climate Action Summit was the selected piece for the declamation contest while the Essay writing contestants were tasked to ponder and write about important lessons from the pandemic. The recorded declamation entries were streamed online via FB live while the Essay Writing contest was done virtually via the zoom platform.

The PSHS CBZRC participated in three academic contests: Essay Writing, Extemporaneous Speech, and Declamation. The event themed “LPU-B at 54: Ensuring Quality and Excellence in Digital Education” aimed to open avenues for student participation in friendly competitions that call for the showcase of intellect, passion, and creativity.


THE CALABARZON SCHOLAR BAGS 24 NAT’L AWARDS AT 17TH WORD CUP

Pisay Calabarzon’s official student publication in English, The Calabarzon Scholar, dominated the 17th Word Cup Philippines after bagging a total of 24 awards on February 27-28, 2021 via Zoom.

The national competition was composed of not just writing contests but also webinars on relevant issues such as the country’s problem on population control discussed on Feb 27 by Commissioner Dexter A. Galban of Commission on Population and Development, focusing on “Panalo ang Planado: The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Filipino Population,” and how the country can attain its optimum development via Digital Trackway discussed on Feb. 28 by Mr. Francis Del Rosario Yuseco, head and innovator of Philtrack Trackway Consortium. These conferences served as the test material for the writing contests, except for sports writing and photojournalism.

The outputs were judged by esteemed people in the industry of journalism such as GMA News Executive Producer Mr. Don Dave Ventura for news writing; AWPI Executive DirectorJennifer Lee Bonto for feature writing; Manila Bulletin Cruising Magazine Editor-in-Chief Johannes Chua for editorial writing; EdCalibre Int. Executive Director Dr. Eugenio Calapit for science writing; UP, ADMU, DLSU Professor Mr. Jimmy Domingo for photojournalism; and, Malaya Editor Manolo Pedralvez for sports writing.


THE CALABARZON SCHOLAR WINS 6 AWARDS AT THE UP AURUM ONLINE PRESSCON

Six campus journalists of The Calabarzon Scholar, the official student publication in English of Pisay Calabarzon, garnered top spots at The Aurum Online Press Conference with the theme Fixing Comms: Promoting Science Journalism Among Us, February 17, 2021.
